The More Things Change, The More They're the Same
Hello again,
Hope all is well. Our holidays passed in good time, a nice break from the day to day--generally. Unfortunately, there was an unexpected death, and a couple of acquaintances suffered heart attacks--one of whom is younger than I am. Gives one something to think about.
In spite of the fact that I'd worked very hard before the holidays to get everything caught up and updated, the Holiday Season is upon again, so I must make some fast tracks. The goals I've set for myself have not been realized, but have seen some progress, and in case I'm not around next year, would like to know that I did it. Unfortunately, resources are limited, and that always slows things down. Life can be frustrating! On the other hand, if I look on the bright side, things have been looking up--not to tempt the fates!
OK, so take a deep breath. You felt this way last year--frustrated with the limitations, the ever ticking of time and really wanting to get something done and a Catch 22 around every corner. Stop the panic, take it one step at a time, and you're not going to play another game of Solitaire until you've finished this, that and the other.
But guess what, life is really just a Big Old Game of Solitaire with a heck of a lot more than 52 cards and an infinite number of suites. Think about it:
1) You never know what you're going to turn up, but whatever it is, you have to make the best of it.
2) All too often, it's just more of the same old stuff that you already have and have absolutely no use for. But if you don't have that junk, you can't even play the game.
3) Occasionally, you do turn up exactly what you need--the key that opens the door to victory.
4) If you're bullheaded and persistent in playing the game, somewhere along the line you keep turning up all the cards you were dying for 2 or 3 games ago.
5) Remember the old adage, "Them that's got shall get"? It works like that in Life and Solitaire. The more you have out, ordered and secure, the more profitable everything you turn up is.
8) Of course one can always blow the whole game with one stupid oversight or mistake.
7) If you're really one to hang in there, eventually your strength goes your arms get tired and vision blurry.
8) And here's the real clincher. If you sit and figure the odds, the cards are always stacked against you, but if you don't play, what would you have been doing instead? Of course, one can always throw in the deck of cards and play another game altogether.
Onward and Upward,
'Till Next Time
