Hello, Paula Gaon here, Libra Sun, Cancer Rising, Aquarius Moon. Nice to meet you. I'm one of many aging BabyBoomers scratching my head and wondering where the time went and why I still feel so confused. That planned career never came to fruition, and earning a living is just a necessary chore. A few years ago, after that proverbial mid-life crisis-which I prefer to think of as an extended adolescence, and my mother's advice, decided to get back to artwork-ie clear out the accumulated cobwebs and neurosis and bring to light all that's been gestating the past 30+ years. So here it is. Look forward to sharing a few ideas and images with you! Come over & rap with us: http://www.apsense.com/invite/paulag5777

Them That's Got Shall Get...

My old friend Asher just posted to his blog a subject that never ceases to amaze me: How them that's got can put us little folks through such hoops and mazes lest we dare cheat them aou to one red cent. Yes, this is the way of the world and it's certainly not going to change in the near future, but do take a look at the article:

Update

A few weeks ago, my father's insurance company - which had previously sworn up and down that there was no money in his life insurance account - sent me a letter asking me to fill out some forms so I could collect his life insurance payment. Well, okay, I said. First I had to write a letter saying I was the only living child of my parents and get a friend to sign it; my apartment manager refused to do this, so I went to the apartment manager from my old building and he was happy to help. A Different Perspective

27June2005

Paul McCartney has celebrated his 63rd birthday in a good hour, and I wish him until 120. It's amazing to see that he's still on the concert tour and seems to be enjoying his work. He's truly an artist with a passion. I had the privledge of being Paul's "neighbor" in Tucson, AZ many years ago. We didn't actually live in the same neighborhood, but on the same side of town and both of us lived close enough to the big supermarket on the east side of town so that it wasn't unusual to see Paul on a Sunday morning with a carton of milk in the express line. Even back then he was enough of a legend that the younger people didn't recognize him, and those of us who remembered the Fab Four in their heyday were probably still too much in awe or simply wanted to respect his privacy. I have to admit that I fell into both of the latter categories. Seeing Paul in line, even in my early 30's, still brought back the feeling of wonder and magic of the early 60's--wish we could bottle the euphoria of those times!

I wonder though. Did we really witness and take part in a cultural phenomenon when the Beatles hit the American scene in the early 60's? Or do I Iook back on this time with such incredible excitement simply because I was the right age at the right time? Of course the world has completely turned topsy turvey since the early 60's. England was "a lot farther away" back then than it is now. When news of Kennedy's assassination reached England in "only 30 minutes", everyone was amazed. Now that I've been living overseas for almost 15 years, this fact has really struck me. It's not unusual to get an email from someone back home asking me about news over here that I haven't even heard yet. So, putting things into this perspective makes one understand how four long haired fellows from England's appearance on Ed Sullivan one Sunday evening was indeed the beginning of an era, so to speak.

With all that said, on to the future--which is now our present. John Lennon is still my favorite Beatle. In spite of the fact that he's been gone almost 25 years, the sadness of his brutal murder and untimely death occasionally pops up into my consciousness. Does anyone else out there in cyber space ever experience flashbacks of his sometimes snide and outrageous remarks as well as his super idealistic and all too often misunderstood ones? Remember all the uproar from his song "Imagine"?--"…Imagine there's no religion…" Boy, did that line ever set some folks on fire! I didn't realize that a lot of people hadn't read between the lines, and naively mentioned to someone what a neat song "Imagine" was--almost got myself lynched. And of course there was the "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" fiasco. John's beautiful imagery of his son's imagination (Tangerine Trees, Marmelade Skys, Kaleidescope Eyes...) was seen by so many as a plug for the drug culture--really sad. But the real sleeper of it all is John's song, "Working Class Hero". As far as I can remember, there was never any comment or controversy whatsoever on this one. If there were, I completely missed it or was still too naïve to understand. Whichever the case, all of us Lennon fans have experienced enough by now to appreciate the line,

"They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool."
Ever try to tactfully tell your boss he's wrong?

And the line that really gets me,

" And you think you're so clever and class less and free
But you're still f@#*%ng peasants as far as I can see ".

What's globalization if not global feudalism?

How did one of the most successful young men in recent history so succinctly express the facts of life for so many working people--throughout the world's history? Yes, forty seems frightfully young to me now. And when I think of the depth of John's work during his short time on this earth, well, maybe that's why he didn't need a long life.

Happy Birthday Paul McCartney

19June2005

Good week to all!

Can you believe it? Paul McCartney turned 63 yesterday! If John were still alive, he'd be 65 in October. Even the Fab Four is getting old, but still can't imagine any of them as pensioners.

This week Moon is on a pretty interesting trek. During the course of the week: Moon starts out in Scorpio; Monday-Tuesday in Sagittarius; Wednesday-Thursday in Capricorn; Friday-Saturday in Aquarius.

But Thursday could be a very pressured and uncomfortable day. Moon will oppose Mercury, Venus and Saturn, all in Cancer. May be challenging for everyone in intellectual matters, including sensitive communications as well as relationships. Thursday should be a good day to keep a low profile.

However, by Saturday, the stars will indeed be more gracious. Moon will be at an optimum angle with Pluto, in Sagittarius--good day to take care of emotional matters and family and household interests.
The stars indeed givith and taketh away. No wonder we're sometimes naughty, sometimes nice.

Have a great week!

"Lucy In The Sky"

Hello Everyone,

First of all, my thanks to Asher for anouncing this Blog on LittleGreenFootballs. It was a big help!

Asher's Blog:"Dreams Into Lightning, "http://asher813.blogspot.com

is well worth visiting. I have to admit that Asher is one of those people who "knew me when".

On to a little talk about art. Let's not go into the whole story of my interests and doing art. Hopefully the story will unfold as time goes on. In any case, I'll continue to add the pic/links from time to time.

Art and Astrology do have a strong link though. As I've matured, have seen and understood the evidence of this link more and more.

Anyone have comments, opinions on this matter. Come on, let's get the ball rolling! I promise some MoonTrek News on Sunday.

See you,
Have a great week-end,
~Paula

A little bit of this, a little bit of that...

"Lucy In The Sky"

Blogging is an interesting new innovation in our world. It's a great way to get out all the thoughts that have been swimming around in one's head. Unfortunately, the thoughts don't always come out in such an organized way--at least not linear.

Before I forget, thanks to my old friend, Asher Abrams for giving me a little blurb on LGF! It was a big help. Oh dear, Asher, please, send me your Blog URL again.

In any case, here are a few thoughts to share.

Moon's Trek Around the Zodiac

I've always found Astrology an interesting subject, as you've probably guessed. The Moon is especially interesting because it's always making it's way around the Zodiac wheel, moving about 12 degrees every 24 hours. So, no matter what your Sun sign, Moon's constantly influencing some area of your Zodiac Map. In addition, Moon's constantly making angles with each of the other planets--yet another influence! Always changing--could this be why we call a person who's always changing "luney"?

Today, Tuesday and tomorrow, we may find it difficult to reconcile intellectual and emotional matters. By Wednesday, tension will be even greater because of Moon's uncomfortable angles with Pluto and Sun. Best not to start new relationships on Wednesday, or get caught up in any emotional issues or arguments.

For more info on Moon's trekking, click the MoonTrek link on the left.

OK, that's it for now.
See you rouns,
~Paula
